About the project

The Ashrama assists TB/HIV community members in the disadvantaged areas of Cape Town by providing the following:
• Nutrition to enhance the immunity
• Education by means of teaching affordable, practical self-management and lifestyle skills using the holistic health systems of Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy
• Self-empowerment through providing opportunities for financial independence
The Ashrama also assists disadvantaged individuals to improve their situations in ways that are considered appropriate by the Outreach Project Committee.

What we already achieved

Three times a week about 1000 Sandwiches and fruits are prepared by volunteers in the Ashram and delivered to TB and HIV/AIDS clinics in disatvanteged areas in Cape Town e.g. Masincedane clinic in KTC, Nyanga clinic, Phumlani clinic in Philippi East, Mzamomhle Clinic in Browns Farm and Stormont Matubela School in KTC.
Besides this our volunteers who are certified Yoga teachers go to the clinics and teach the patients special breathing techniques and Yoga asanas to help the lungs and the sick bodies to recover faster and better.
The Ashram is also a deposit for clothing, blankets, toys and domestic items that are in good condition. These are delivered regularly to the clinics and the school.
On Christmas special hampers as well as toys are donated to the TB / HIV clients and their families.

Think big is our mantra. We have the vision of several soup kitchens next to the clinics. In order to provide also warm food to the patients at any time. And of course this will create jobs and make the people more independent. We want to educate. Not only the patients but also all the people and especially the kids in the disadvanteged areas.

What makes us different

Our Outreach Project is supported by volunteers only, what means that we have no administrative costs so EVERY CENT GOES TO WHERE IT IS NEEDED!
